Advanced Manners/ AKC CGC
This six-week class is for graduates of the Intermediate Manners class. Generally dogs are one year of age and older. This class will include:
- Heeling basics
- Sit, down, stand, come and stay with distractions
- Advanced attention work with distractions
- Proofing exercises
- Canine Good Citizen exercises
AKC CGC Testing
You and your dog will be put in situations to teach you to work with a higher level of attention and precision. This class will help you and your dog prepare to take the Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test and earn a CGC certificate.
The American Kennel Club (AKC) started the Canine Good Citizen (CGC) program in 1989 to reward dogs who have good manners at home and in the community. Any dog, purebred or mixed breed, can participate. Showing confidence and control, the dog must complete the following ten steps:
1. Accept a friendly stranger
2. Sit politely for petting
3. Appearance and grooming
4. Out for a walk on a loose lead
5. Walk through a crowd
6. Sit and down on command/stay in place
7. Come when called
8. Reaction to another dog
9. Reactions to distractions
10. Supervised separation
Fee: $80 for 6-week classes/$130 for a punch card (two consecutive classes) - Fee includes AKC CGC Test
